Faith from Mirror's Edge

Media: Pencil, Photoshop 7 and a Wacom Graphire graphics tablet

This is my take on Faith from the game Mirror's Edge. I drew the original sketch while I was first playing through the game. I scanned it into Photoshop and began to add the cityscape background but as usual I got bored before I could complete it and have only just gone back and finished it today.

I have a love hate relationship with Mirror's Edge itself. On paper it seems ideal as I love parkour type exploration games such as the recent Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider series. I'm just not sure about the first person perspective. I find it hard to judge Faith's position in space and so end up miss-timing jumps and wall runs. Also, I don't like the way hand to hand combat has been implemented, which is particularly annoying as you are forced to fight through a lot of the final chapters of the game. The graphics are gorgeous though with a stylish reduced palette; mostly white with an accent colour and the occasional splash of red in the form of your 'runner vision' route guides.
